We are Hof vErde – a small, lovingly run multi-generational farm covering 5 hectares in Kleinsendelbach. For us, agriculture is more than just production. It is about relationships: with our earth, with our fellow human beings, and also with future generations. In the face of accelerating climate change, we see sustainability not as a buzzword, but as an attitude. We want to show that agriculture can be part of the solution by building soil, promoting biodiversity, storing water, and producing healthy food. Our goal is to have living soils, nutrient-rich food, and a farm that grows with nature – not against it. We are guided by the central principles of permaculture and syntropic agroforestry.
Permaculture – cycles instead of monoculture
Permaculture is the creative basis for our farm. The term is a combination of “permanent” and “agriculture” – in other words, sustainable agriculture for the future. Instead of one-sided monocultures, we focus on diversity, cycles, and living systems. We think in terms of interrelationships: How do soil life, plants, animals, and humans interact? How can we create structures that are self-sustaining in the long term and thus regenerate systems? The result is robust ecosystems, healthy plants, and agriculture that builds rather than depletes. More information on permaculture can be found on the Permaculture Institute website.

Market Garden – Diversity in a small space
Our vegetables grow in the Market Garden. This means intensive, small-scale vegetable cultivation carried out carefully by hand. With careful planning, crop rotation, compost, and a lot of attention, we produce a wide variety of crops in a small space – without heavy machinery or artificial fertilizers. “Market gardener” also means: straight from the field to you. No middlemen, seasonal, fresh, and full of nutrients. Efficient cultivation, mindful use of resources.

Syntropic agroforestry – a living forest garden
Our berries, fruits, and nuts grow in our syntropic agroforestry system – a particularly dynamic and regenerative cultivation system. Syntropy means growing together towards more life. Inspired by natural forest ecosystems, we plant trees, shrubs, vegetables, and herbs in carefully planned layers. Different plant species work together, protecting and nourishing each other. Through targeted pruning, mulching, and permanent ground cover, fertile humus is created step by step. The system becomes more stable, species-rich, and resilient with each passing year. It forms its own microclimate, stores water better in the soil, and creates habitat for numerous animals and insects. You could say we are planting the future—in the form of an edible forest garden. You can find more information on syntropy here.

Agriculture as a place of learning and encounter
Our farm is not only intended to produce food, but also to create space for development. We want to bring education for sustainable development to life. This is achieved primarily through our workshops, courses, and joint learning in the field, for example as part of our volunteering program. Topics such as healthy nutrition, conscious consumption, soil structure, connection to nature, and community are particularly close to our hearts. In addition, we hope to create specific spaces for encounters on our farm: a cultural and overnight barn for socio-cultural events and a course room for holistic education are planned long-term. We want to create a place where community can grow—just like our plants.

Our vision
We believe in agriculture that regenerates.
In community that supports.
And in soil that becomes more alive with each passing year.
For us, Hof vErde is a place of learning, a space for experimentation, and a home all at once.
A place where life and agriculture can come closer together again.
